Baygard Conductivity

Factors affecting conductivity of electric fence wire are:

Diameter of the wire (thickness)

Resistance of metal measured in ohms per meter.

The lower the resistance, the better the conductivity.

Number of conductors.

Increasing the conductor wire diameter will dramatically increase the volume of conductor wire.*

Metal Resistance

The resistance of a conductor to electrical flow (ohms per meter) is factor of the type of metal. Compare the resistance ** of Baygard patented aluminum conductor to a .008" (.2mm) stainless steel Polywire:

Baygard .0159" - 0.15 ohms/meter

Polywire Stainless Steel .008" - 7.7 ohms/meter

Baygard resistance is approximately 50 Times lower than .008" stainless steel. Lower resistance means better conductivity.
